About us

The Dutch School for Classical Shiatsu in Den Haag, the Netherlands, has a history of learning and teaching the understanding, theory and practice of ancient Oriental techniques of Classical Shiatsu and Do-In.


It's origins began in 1987 in the Netherlands after the qualification of its founder and director - Alan Nash.


The School's reputation for depth and quality has gained an international acceptance which is still growing and has a large number of students who come from many countries in the world.

Teachers
Anushka Hofman - Teacher Level 1 

Anuskha Hofman teaches the first year of the accredited professional shiatsu diploma course. She is a certified Shiatsu therapist, graduated from the NSKS, and she teaches various courses and workshops, such as Do-In for women and basic courses. >> Read more

Manon Smits - Teacher level 2


Manon Smits teaches the second year of the accredited professional shiatsu diploma course. She is a certified Shiatsu therapist and Do-In teacher. In addition to teaching at the NSKS she has her own Shiatsu practice>> Read more

Sebastiaan van Leeuwen - Teacher level 2


Sebastiaan is in 2001 voor het eerst naar de NSKS gekomen om een basis cursus Shiatsu en DO-IN te volgen bij Alan Nash. Zijn interesse in de oosterse disciplines is steeds groter geworden nadat hij in 1999 begon met Aikido bij Aikido Dojo ShiZenRyu. Vanuit deze interesse en de behoefte om zich te verdiepen is hij naar de NSKS gekomen. Vanaf de eerste stap die hij binnen deze school, de NSKS, zet wist hij al dat hij voor de rest van zijn leven bezig zou zijn met het bestuderen van deze kunst.

Alan Nash - Teacher level 3 and Founding director of the NSKS


Alan Nash founded this school in 1987 and teaches the third year of the accredited professional shiatsu diploma course. He also teaches several seminars and coordinates the annual residential seminar at Lunteren. He has studied Oriental medicinal knowledge and techniques for decades. He studied Shiatsu with Japanese masters, and in different countries. >> Read more

Sensei Kawada - Teacher Level 4


Sensei Kawada teaches level 4 of the accredited professional shiatsu diploma course. He was born in Japan and started studying Shiatsu at the age of five years old. His father studied and practiced Shiatsu for sixty years in Japan. Sensei Kawada followed his example and studied at different schools in Japan among which the Nippon Shiatsu School. >> Read more

Kyoko Onishi - Gastdocente seminar medicinale voeding


Kyoko Onishi teaches the Macrobiotic medicinal cooking. She later studied Oriental medicine with Dr. Hideo Ohmori. With Lima Ohsawa she studied the art of Macrobiotics for seven years. She has given Anushka Hofman and her team to carry on her incredible work while she now looks after so many people in her home country in Japan.  >> Read more
